#iot

Next week I am going to talk to @ntnu students of Jenteprosjektet Ada about how
#iot bridges the digital with the physical world and about the fascinating
challenges we encounter ... and how to use a
@microbit_edu to monitor kitchen herbs
(which I clearly failed to do myself)!

I've managed to configure an #Azure Storage Queue and Functions so that I can
prevent #IoT devices from hammering a third-party API.

What's annoying a little bit is that it's not possible to filter incoming device
messages based on the MQTT topic (AKA property bags).

Test results with @twilio Super SIM and NB #IoT
are: Super SIM connects and does TCP+UDP, but with NAT timeouts on the lower end
of what we have measured so far. The NB IoT SIM did not connect, which is
interesting because the @1NCE3 SIMs do work here. Regular SIM did not work.

There is more in this report:

"the Air Force is building a militarized “internet of things (#IoT)” to connect
any sensor with any shooter—across all domains—with the required digital
infrastructure for data analytics and artificial intelligence to fight at
machine speeds." /status/1268108393954279424

It's amazes me again and again, that the inventors of
@typescript release @azure #iot JavaScript
SDKs like this:

The patch property here is a fairly complex object, and I have to consult the
docs to figure out what goes in there. This is not a good example how to write
an #SDK.

Develop not simply long-range wireless solutions but have the paradigm shift in
mind that our products enable: an entirely new category of #iot products becomes
feasible because of our ultra-low-power chips.

You will work at the helm of a $100M investment effort and help to get the
exciting tech we have developed to unfold into amazing and innovative #iot
products in the hand of our customers.

Look at this @NordicTweets cutie! This is
the hardware part of the #iot Cat Tracker project I am currently working on, and
my colleagues just spend two days assembling two of these by hand. There are
components on it which are smaller than a grain of sand.

I will be speaking next month @codetalkshh
(Oct 18-19th) about #JavaScript and #IoT, and I am donating a complimentary
ticket (worth €480) for a member of an underrepresented group. DM me with a
short intro if you are and can make it to the conference. I will decide
tomorrow.

This week I'll be staying in #rheinmainnrocks land and I'm happy to meet for a
coffee ☕ if you want to learn more about how are building the next generation
of cellular #IoT solutions @NordicTweets and
why Norway 🇳🇴 is a great place to work, especially for Germans! >

I'm really happy to be speaking @ndc_conferences in June in Oslo.

I'll show how easy it is, to build a secure #IoT product prototype using
#JavaScript and the @Espruino Wifi.

This will be my first conference as a speaker in the Nordics.

Amazon Dash is illegal in Germany, a German court ruled in a lawsuit by a
consumer protection office:

  • Users have to be informed about the actual item and price before the order
  • Button must have notice that using it creates a payable order
    ("zahlungspflichtig bestellen") #iot

The thing is now a JavaScript powered #iot display, the icons are transferred
via an encrypted TLS connection directly from AWS IoT. Updates take <1s to
appear on the device so that even simple animations are possible.
