I'm now reaching a point where I need a solution to share logfiles from devices
with colleagues in a convenient way, one that allows stream live logs, but also
organise sessions using tagging, naming. Does that exist?

61 developers are now millionaires because StackOverflow was sold, and people
will use this as a great example to push the "equity instead of cash" agenda.

Consider for a second how many developers you know personally that got this
lucky.

And if you consider taking equity instead of cash consider if everyone in your
company has the privilege of being able to exchange money today for a slim bet
on future income that very often can be voided unilaterally.

It seems like we exclusively have issues with measuring results. And the
literature makes this look way too easy. As a profession we could research more
and get a better understanding of if that part of OKRs is more harmful.

Interesting discussion at #SoCraTesUK now about what "passion" in software craft
means, for us, for employers.

Is it, when used in job ads, a codified request to work overtime?

Replying to @coderbyheart

As an industry we should normalize it more that you can deliver great value as a
software developer, without being passionate.

Ask yourself, if you ask for it, what do you associate with that term?

We ran out of espresso the day before yesterday, that was a HUGE mistake. The
caffeine withdrawal symptoms are like a hangover that gets worse over the course
of the day.

@pati_gallardo I do this to lift everyone's
sprits. I. The face of challenging situation it helps to get everyone's mind off
the issue for a second, and also make clear that no life is at stake. It gives
some space to take a short break and consider all options.

@pati_gallardo I learned this as a track
and field coach for small kids, and in the military as well: it's important to
follow rules and regulations (e.g. for safety reasons). But, noone has the
capacity to be point 100% of the time: Slack-space is important to build
connections, and trust.

I attended the 24 hour liquid ensemble programming for a while and IMHO it
served well to show people how ensemble programming works, and what tools and
techniques exist to facilitate ensemble programming.

However having people work on a codebase they don't know, in a language they
have no experience with, and people hopping on and off dilutes the perceived
usefulness of this technique. I hope people try this with their own codebase
again.

@Lazer Have you checked the contacts that connect
to the battery? Over time those can get bend and lose connection. Bending the
slightly towards the battery contacts can sometimes help.

We are at that level of plant based milk in our household where we can find the

@leastpossible Not my favorite for Latte
Macchiato, a little bit to "planty" taste when heated up. But good alternative
for use with MΓΌsli! My favorite for Latte is the Gryr one (from a huge Norwegian
milk producer, Tine).

My father used to work in the automotive industry, so I would naturally have
used the products he was involved in. He was by the way in testing / quality.
Now he uses stuff that I am remotely involved in. Amazing.

Achievement of the day was refactoring a CI pipeline for running end-to-end
tests on real hardware. It's brainmeltingly complicated to get everything line
up. But the green lights at the end of the test run mean so much.

If you were to be provided with a react web application (for managing IoT
devices) and asked to be re-using some or all components, which CSS framework
would you prefer to be used for styling?

Isn't tailwind just all style property and value combinations turned into a
million CSS classes? I don't get why this became so popular.

@c089 This toxic white tech bro mentality "I don't
care if he is a racist, misogynistic asshole, as long as he helps me." is really
terrifying.

Over a year since I last went into to office to work there for more than a few
hours. I am mentoring students and they have gotten priority for coming back to
the office, so I should be here for the next weeks.

I do miss whiteboards...

First day back in the office yesterday I made this drawing while explaining
serverless concepts on AWS, and how they tie in with IoT.

Working from office again also means I am once again entertaining my colleagues
with an interesting sound experience.

Trying out a new setup for working on the road. Now 4k portable displays are
available and that makes for a good option when paired with my retina XPS 13. I
actually used the portable screen as the main monitor.

Replying to @coderbyheart

Switched the arrangement today and this works even better, if a USB hub is used
because it leaves only one USB port of the XPS usable. Now the mouse has more
room.

I took a few days but this is some progress from the summer students project:
