@lauralindal It feels selfish to put yourself
first but taking control is the first and hardest step. Change is so scary for
all, but they will understand that it enables you to become a happier Laura. And
this is what they want, too. I wish you a wonderful journey!
I am in #RheinMainRocks land this week, so feel free to reach out for a
one-on-one coffee here. I'm happy to take the time and help!

Definitely watch @ExploreAdeva, they are
doing great things for making tech more diverse and inclusive!

I received news that this talk was accepted at another conference. It's really
nice to see that I have found something interesting to share again.

@ktrajchevska
@ExploreAdeva Yeah, happy new year! I hope
you have more great stuff to tell after 2019 is over! 💪
@XBowstech Love my blacks!
Do you always have temp / scratch files lying around in your Git repo and
sometimes accidentally commit them (like I do)? Here is a simple fix!
@JoelEsli True, nobody wants to sit through a 3
hour presentation ;-)
@Maggysche As early as possible (I selected 3
months because that is good enough).
@essquare_de Rock on 🤘!

Was ist denn die passende Anrede in Schreiben an Beschäftigte, die nicht Mann

erfasst hat?
Liest sich "Sehr geehrte/r Alex Meier" gut?

@liran_tal
@EuroTestingConf
@goldbergyoni Yes, that's why I love going
to conferences like @EuroTestingConf. Blog posts and singular videos are
(rightfully) too narrow. On confs, multiple speakers will be able to cover a
topic with more detail, and everybody on location can exchange on these ideas
more.
@liran_tal
@EuroTestingConf
@goldbergyoni To know when a unit test is
not really adding any value can be quite hard. It can give a sense of false
safety in loosely coupled systems.
@goldbergyoni
@liran_tal
@EuroTestingConf To be fair, I always
understood that the pyramid was made to visualize the cost for for writing these
three specific types of tests. I use it in the talk to challenge pre-existing
knowledge and not to define a new/better version.
@goldbergyoni
@liran_tal
@EuroTestingConf It really depends on the
type of system how the distribution of tests looks like.
Spotify has turned it into a honeycomb:
https://labs.spotify.com/2018/01/11/testing-of-microservices/
@mirjam_diala They probably just forgot to
commit the test! 🙊
@c089 What a trainwreck! :-D
@rradczewski
@tdpauw Thank you, @tdpauw!
@tdpauw
@rradczewski Don't apologize! It's great that
they are in and you were able to make time to add them.

mute.

@Lynoure First, tell us what your hobby is...
@RonJeffries
@johncutlefish Do you mean that because as
developers we are only getting involved in the end?
I'd rather sit together with everyone from the beginning, without making a
single keystroke, than waiting for a requirement document to show up in my
inbox.
@RonJeffries
@johncutlefish Yes, I also know these "just
make it, it's a simple fix/change" people.
Here we come @codefreeze_fi! Flying with
@lufthansa to IVL! #codefreeze
@Lynoure Nice! I think it's great if you also
share "personal" stuff like hobbies! After all, we are here for the human

Super interesting question posted today on the #softwarecrafters Slack by
@RiccardoOdone:
"How are companies supporting seniors with the goal of keeping them engaged and
growing?"
My experience has been that is hard to grow vertically and I usually outgrow
companies. >
I am most engaged when I have new challenges, but they are adding expertise in a
new domain (grow horizontally).
There is practical no concept of supporting seniors to grow, because by
definition they have peaked. We are asked to grow others (non-seniors). >
While there are bigger companies that have technical expert career tracks
(called Principal Engineers, which are an alternative to the typical managerial
career track) I haven't had the chance to experienced this, yet.
What's your take?
@dawnieando
@RiccardoOdone How about: the most
experienced people in an organization?
@RiccardoOdone
@dawnieando That would also be what I have in
mind.
Good Morning from Ivalo! #codefreeze

We did the welcome&intro session and I am amazed: #codefreeze is really huge
this year!
@RiccardoOdone Thank you! Maybe next year?
@RiccardoOdone Sure, will do! Today is a
slow day with no sessions. Check the Trello and Slack to keep up to date.

@spielplatzmnstr Thanks, I really miss your friendly face here!
It's really sad to see that the conference with the most inclusive track record

I think I can officially add #codefreeze organizer to my bio, because
@rinkkasatiainen gifted me this fantastic

@RiccardoOdone This is getting discussed as
part of this session at #codefreeze: https://trello.com/c/yumhGRDb - I am out
in the woods, but I am sure there will be material/comments added.
@datenreisender No, the week #codefreeze
happens depends on the hotel, they "give" as the week that is best for them.

Thank you! More pics after the fold!

Besides a lot of outdoor activities I managed to join 3 sessions at #Codefreeze
today: Discussed with @matschmann on taking

We had an amazing retrospective at #codefreeze today where many brainstormed how
to make this unconference more inclusive and more accessible so that more people
can experience the magic of @codefreeze_fi.
Sharing and caring for others is what makes this event so magical!

Let @SalFreudenberg show us how remote mob
programming can be made work and actually a fun activity for introverts:

Listening to @sarahjwells talking about
scaling testing efforts in complex cloud native peojects the right way:

Learning from @jess_ingrass how to manage
and lead a team in a way that ensures no team member is left behind:

Enjoy @malk_zameth who is a force of nature
on stage as he packs wisdom as if he were already in his second reincarnation in

Enjoy the exchange with other quality minded softworkers in the lean coffee!
Finally I do also get to contribute with talk about testing cloud native
