@lauralindal It feels selfish to put yourself
first but taking control is the first and hardest step. Change is so scary for
all, but they will understand that it enables you to become a happier Laura. And
this is what they want, too. I wish you a wonderful journey!

@alipasha In this case they clearly only have
commercial interests, which makes their argument that crypto will be "The
Future" of everything and therefore every country should subsidiarize it totally
mute.

@Lynoure Nice! I think it's great if you also
share "personal" stuff like hobbies! After all, we are here for the human
connection, and also at work we only do well if we can be our entire self. Go
for it!

Super interesting question posted today on the #softwarecrafters Slack by
@RiccardoOdone:

"How are companies supporting seniors with the goal of keeping them engaged and
growing?"

My experience has been that is hard to grow vertically and I usually outgrow
companies. >

I am most engaged when I have new challenges, but they are adding expertise in a
new domain (grow horizontally).

There is practical no concept of supporting seniors to grow, because by
definition they have peaked. We are asked to grow others (non-seniors). >

While there are bigger companies that have technical expert career tracks
(called Principal Engineers, which are an alternative to the typical managerial
career track) I haven't had the chance to experienced this, yet.

What's your take?

We are back in an area with cellphone reception. Currently fighting trough heavy
winds. More photos in a few hours, after we are back and had sauna! #codefreeze

At this year's #codefreeze our very own
@rinkkasatiainen took us on a special
trip: we spent a night outside at -19°C in an open shelter in the national park.
A truly unique experience within the many magical things you can have here.
Thank you! More pics after the fold!

Besides a lot of outdoor activities I managed to join 3 sessions at #Codefreeze
today: Discussed with @matschmann on taking
back the web, @Jen_BMJ shared her research on
invisible disabilities of digital workers, Amy Yang talked about running remote
open-spaces. Awesome variety!

We had an amazing retrospective at #codefreeze today where many brainstormed how
to make this unconference more inclusive and more accessible so that more people
can experience the magic of @codefreeze_fi.

Sharing and caring for others is what makes this event so magical!

👉 Looking for a job? I will tweet your anonymized profile (what you are looking
for, location, etc) and forward you the responses. I think this can be an
interesting way to find new job offers from our extended network. PM me your
details!

I would like to take some time to figure out if it's feasible to develop Node.js
lambdas on @awscloud entirely using @cloud9ide
... including figuring out how staging works, etc.

It could be so amazing to have cloud resources to compile js, instead of the
local machine.

@EmmaWedekind I try! I see how hard it can
be to deal with a lot of negative commentary. Maybe have an eye on whether the
platform you are publishing on supports blocking users so you quickly get rid of
certain users.

Lisette really does great work around working in distributed teams. I believe it
is not her intention and if she was aware that she would revisit this. I am sure
that we can provide her with some better examples.

@EuroTestingConf Preparing a talk
improves the speakers skill to explain technical concepts, the public speaking
itself improves their ability to defend their opinion in front of others. This
is a unique opportunity, which takes some time to prepare but is very rewarding
in the end.

I'm really excited to join
@EuroTestingConf for my second time.

You can, too, there are still tickets available (ping me for a €50 discount).

This conference covers what I care most about: software quality.

And here are some of the things I am really looking forward to:
